Course Description The course is divided into two sections. The first is a 30 hour classroom section and the second is an 8 hour behind the wheel driving evaluation. The classroom portion is designed to promote a positive attitude toward safety, this course helps each student become a well informed, safe driver. The ADA driver education course will make each student aware of the driving tasks and responsibilities necessary to be safe drivers. The students will gain the knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations. Each lesson will thoroughly breakdown vehicle controls, right of way, weather conditions, road conditions, signs and signals. The student will be instructed of the importance of proper decision making and emotional control while operating a vehicle. The course will examine how alcohol and other drugs can effect their driving, as well as the hazards involved with driving distractions, such as cell phone use. All students will receive 8 hours of behind the wheel driving instruction. The students will perform numerous driving maneuvers. Each student will be expected to drive in rural, suburban, and on the interstate. The instructor will direct the student throughout the driving portion of the course.
